The objective of regenerative farming is to focus on reducing total nitrogen use in agricultural farming while still being able to supply crops with sufficient nutrition to reach full potential and yield.
Whilst broadcasting urea is an accepted method to achieving full potential and yield, it is extremely susceptible to volatilization, antagonisms, leaching as well as causing biological imbalance and mineral dilution. This can have a detrimental effect on the soil and the environment in the longer term.
Regenerative farmers are working with application of foliar nitrogen mixed with balanced nutrition and bio-stimulants as an alternative to urea broadcasting. The rationale behind this approach is by applying urea in a dissolved form, the quantity of N can be reduced by up to one third.
